Who We Are

SAM Blaze is a community of 18 to 25-year-olds striving to live out our Catholic faith in the real world. Our goal is simple: to build genuine friendships, ask the big questions, and grow closer to Christ.

We gather regularly for a mix of spiritual and social events, including:

Praise and worship nights to reconnect with God.
Casual social events (like our favorite line dancing nights!).
Discussions and studies to dive deeper into our faith.
Opportunities to serve our local Brea community.

Whether you are a lifelong Catholic, returning to the Church, or just exploring faith for the very first time, there is a seat at our table for you.

Meet Kathy, Young Adult Minister 18-25

Hey, I'm Kathy! I have the absolute joy of running the SAM Blaze Young Adult Ministry here at St. Angela Merici.

I actually found my home at this parish during my third year of college, so I know exactly what it is like to be navigating school, young adulthood, and faith all at the same time. Since then, I've loved getting involved in our community—I served as a Confirmation catechist for three years and currently work as the Admin Assistant for our Youth Ministry. In my personal life, I am in my late twenties and currently busy getting ready for my upcoming wedding!

My biggest passion is helping young adults discover their God-given purpose and building a community where everyone feels seen, known, and valued. It can be intimidating to show up to a new group for the first time, so if you have any questions or just want to say hi before an event, please reach out.
